Join Our Team
Currently hiring for the following positions for our Fall semester starting in August. Monthly staff meetings and resources are provided, but suggestions and innovations are welcome as well on this collaborative team. For more information, contact director@floatclarksville.com.

Language Class Teachers
Teach our traditional class with a balanced approach to the four foundational skills of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Free, regular training is provided as well as a library of textbooks and resources for activities, projects, and games. Also hiring assistant teachers and Spanish language teachers.

Homework Helpers
There are two types of Homework Helpers needed: HH Club and small group or 1-on-1 tutoring. The HH Club is a drop in class that meets once a week. Participants are arranged by grade range at small tables. You will float between them and help with whatever they brought to work on. The HH Tutoring is a booked session that can be held in person or online with up to 3 students in the same grade. You will work only with those students in 30 minutes sessions. As a tutor, you can choose the subject or grade range you want to work with.

Rapid Read Tutors
Tutors help language students with reading and speaking skills by practicing with the same text each week. The goal of this program is consistency and intensity. Sessions are 15 minutes long, 5 days a week, with the same tutor and student. This can be in person or online. Special attention is paid to word recognition, semantic clues, and pronunciation. Spanish tutors needed as well.

Eventers
Eventers help with the monthly community events with different themes. They participate in the brainstorm, planning coordination, set up, execution, and clean up. This is a fun position that is perfect for someone who loves the international community but doesn't have a lot of time to commit to teaching. Attendance at the monthly meeting and the event is required, but the rest of the responsibilities can be done on your schedule.

Book Study Leaders
Our book studies are scheduled at various times in the semester with various themes. The coordinator does not do most of the talking, but instead encourages participation and maintains an environment of reflection, deep conversation, and growth mindset. Coordinators of adult book studies can set the time and place with the members who sign up.

Conversation Partners
One of the key hurdles in finding fluency is the ability to create natural conversations with the knowledge you already have. Conversation Partners is a fun way to help intermediate and advanced students who need to practice input and output, pronunciation, and meaning. You can choose the time and place to meet with 2-3 students and lead a normal conversation over coffee, snacks, or while watching the kids play. The key is weekly consistency and positive feedback.
